  2. Re: Winston BIIIX 9' 8wt for All Around Mid-Atlantic Rod

I have not had the 8wt but used to own the BIIIX in a 7wt. IMO the 3X rods are too soft to handle sinking lines and big wind resistant bass bugs. I think they are perfect for swinging to steelhead...

I will third Rod Hamiltons book but also check out Chico Fernandez's "Fly fishing For Bonefish". Chico's book is a great resource for familiarizing yourself with bonefishing.

    Best of luck!

Re: Line Recommendation for Winston BIIIx 480

Hello, what line did you end up selecting? I have never fished the 8' B3x but I used to own the 480 B2x. It was a lot crisper than the 486. I actually liked Rio Gold or even GPX on the 480 and a...

I used to own the TMF and I liked it much better with a wf3 GPX. I did not like it with a standard trout taper wf4
  8. Re: Nicked line 5 feet back, how much can I cut off? Intouch Perception

Gosh that sucks! No way you can cut off that much. Not sure how bad the nicks are but you may want to go out to the water and see how it performs. I have a SA textured line with a nick that I can...

Thats awesome! Good to hear you like the 68! Yes, Chis is a class act for sure. I have also been thinking about the 79 (I think about too many rods!) Are you going for his new 5 pc version?

Oh man! I forgot about the F2, that is an awesome rod! I love fishing glass. Another I've not fished but heard great things about is Barclay's Synthesis 68. I have one of his parabolic 4wts...

    Re: Favorite 3 weight.

I've owned a pile of 3wts. My favorite is the Winston WT 803, awesome rod! Another fantastic underrated little rod is the St Croix Imperial 703. That little Imperial 7' rod has a near perfect...

    Re: New Winston Pure

I had to test the Air S with a Mastery GPX (which I realize is 1/2 heavy) since the outside temps here was about 32f at the time I cast it. The NRX is a new to me purchase and I have yet to fish it...

S&S, I just read your thread regarding the Rio Flats Pro. I think I may try a few other lines on the Air Salt before I give up on it. It may like a heavier line like the Flats Pro or Tropical punch.
