    Re: 2018 8-weight Reel Shootout!

    No, would be the quick answer. I have cast practically ever rod on the market and used every reel worth using. Three friends own fly shops in different directions all within 45 mins. Club has new...

    Shooting line is how this is refered to. Using a weight forward line will be easiest to begin with.
    For the most part I never strip line all the way back. Usually fly is worked in what is...

    Harder in saltwater to loose fish ? Maybe, but strip setting is often the last thing wanted. Tight lines hook most saltwater fish because of their tendancy to turn after striking. Strip setting...

    Corn fed , nail it. Hook sets land fish.

    I use a urethane sealer from the Mud Hole, on new builds. Does make clean-up easier.

    Now you funny to..:biggrin::focus:

    Re: Saltwater leaders?

    Do not go over 40 lb for butt section or it will be bigger than lines end on a 7w.
    4' of 40lb, then 2' of 30lb, and 2' of 20lb. Gives me 8' with loop for tippet to be attached. 18" tippet then...
  18. Re: Am I wrong to not use a complicated leader formula?

    Suggestion........ use loops to connect tippet to leader. Tippets can be pre-tied with bite or shock tippet or without. Carrying them becomes habit and changing tippets is faster than tying a knot....
