    Re: Newbie "Indicator"

In some cases I do some bobber fishin'. But then again I'm the guy on the stream that looks like a bum-with an $800 fly rod. :)

Re: weirdest fish you ever caught on a fly???

This goes back a number of years but my weirdest is a 4' Gar while fishing for Steelhead below a coffer dam. He went for a Ron Spring's Wiggler nymph. That same day I caught a couple fresh water Drum...

    Re: Help needed

Hi and welcome to the forum. The only reel I can comment on is the Lamson Guru, if that's an option. It was a nice enough reel, but I didn't care for the drag knob at all. I checked out the Galvin...

Good news with the frosts!! I was out exploring a couple weeks ago and decided to cut across an island to fish a stretch of stream I have yet to fish. Didn't work out too well, dam near kilt myself....

    Re: Bad to Worse?

We've had some pretty big rains come through here as well. In the last couple weeks it was not uncommon to have a stream I fish up 3-4 feet. But the good news is it's a tributary to a major Michigan...
  11. Re: Great Article for the new guy.....'I need flies, flies, flies" conundrum

Hi Abaco24, fly assortments can be a generic luck of the draw as far as the patterns you really need for the type of fishing you are intending to do. Also the quality of the flies could as well be an...

Re: Classic rod found in garage

Nice find! Don't sweat using and enjoying it. As others have mentioned the age of some of the glass rods they are still fishing with, I also have 2 Fenwicks dating back to the 50's and 60's still...

I messed around with this little experiment this past spring and did pretty well. The body I tightened down, trimmed and was more tapered. The body extension is a goose biot.

Re: Scott GS 84/#4 and Ross Evolution LTX

If I could have only 2 fly rods :scared: they would be my Scott GS-844 and GS-886. They are the easiest casting rods I have ever owned and a pleasure to fish with.

    Re: Rod Mod

I tried that in my younger years, did not turn out well, though still was able to be used.

Do yourself a favor and get a 4 piece rod, it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

  17. Re: Can my fly line work for my new euronymphing rod?
