Re: Abel Big Game 3N vs. 3S

They have the same diameter but the 3S is wider. The Big Game 3N (or Super Series Super 6 standard arbor) was at one time considered the standard for bones, etc. The Big Game 3S is the same as the...

Re: Line recommendations for Sage ONE 691

I use Rio Gold WF6 on mine but I use it primarily for dry flies in the wind or when I'm chasing some larger trout with dries. I can't comment on it's performance specifically on the rod for...

Re: Not going to pick up a new 5 wt...

I had the opportunity to fish a SA Trout Stalker line on the rod over the past week. I much preferred the RIO Gold on it to the Trout Stalker. The SATS required a little more "hauling" to get the...

Re: Not going to pick up a new 5 wt...

I fished this rod again Saturday with the exact same set up. I carry two sticks with me to this river - and I had my trusty Z-Axis rigged up with fluro for my nymph stick. I used the exact same set...

Re: Airflo air lock indicator bobber

I love 'em. But I wish I could buy some of the screw on tops. I have a bunch of them just sitting around because I dropped the top in the river... They're not cheap either.

Re: Whatcha got cooking?

May I ask, how is your grill set up there. I note you're doing it at 325 but how do you have the coals set up?

Re: Whatcha got cooking?

Have some baby back pork ribs dry brining right now with Kosher Salt. I had to make another batch of rub because I was out so I have knocked that out. Will fire up the smoker in about 30 minutes to...

Re: Not going to pick up a new 5 wt...

I've only fished it for one day and with one fly line, so I've got work to do to make an educated statement. However, one day on the water with the new Sage X 590-4 lined with RIO gold and I'm sold. ...

Re: 2017 5wt Shootout

I'm too am tired of the shootout. I didn't even bother reading the thing this year once I read through the "setup" with all using the same line - and a MPX line at that. Anyone who fishes the exact...

Re: Snow in Denver is normal but this isn't.

I've done plenty of shoveling today. More important than the shoveling is removing it from my trees and bushes. It is some heavy stuff and I've about a foot.

Re: Abel lanyard thread

There is no breakaway feature on the Abel lanyard. The aluminum simply slides and gives you the ability to shorten or lengthen the "opening" from which to slide your head through.

All of the places you mention will be fine to fish. If you stick to the tailwaters and popular fisheries you mention, you will have company. For this weekend, you can hit everything you mention and...

Re: Whatcha got cooking?

I'm the cook in the family so Easter Dinner was on tap for the weekend. Easter is actually a fairly easy dinner to cook - it just takes some time and good timing to get everything out just right.

Re: Whatcha got cooking?

I've been smoking a fair amount of Pork and Chicken but I've stayed away from beef because of the crazy time commitment. I was at the butcher Thursday to pick up some steaks for dinner that night...

Re: Reel for Sage ONE 9 ft 6 wt

I use an Abel Super 6N on my 690-4 ONE. Perfect for me. Rio Gold is my line of choice for the stick which I use for nymphing and big dry flies.

Re: My Streamer Situation- Keep it or change it

Re: My Streamer Situation- Keep it or change it

Find an old Xi2 or Xi3. They can be bad on the used market for a really decent price and in good condition. Use the extra coin for SA Titan Clear Tip line and watch it sing!

Re: New Rod Day

Neither is that rod!

I have an older English Made (Hardy) CFO that I'd part with if you're looking for a clicker to fit that stick. If it were me, I'd wait on a Sage. They can be found if your...
