    Re: What's the biggest fight?

I would love to see what a 5lb bluegill could do. I'd be willing to bet it would rank in top 3 if not top slot.

Re: What’s the biggest fight - Saltwater Edition

I'd like to throw milkfish into that mix. Bonefish speed runs, followed by dogging power of a jack. No lactic acid buildup similar to tunas.

Bonefish don't fight that hard. Just a couple speedy...

Re: To Reel or not to Reel

To clarify my stance: Ard- all the salmon species and steelhead(at least full adults) will either put themselves on the reel depending on where the take is, or take a while to land, in which then I...

Re: To Reel or not to Reel

I have no problems with putting fish on the reel, but I don't necessarily agree that you should "always" do anything. You should do what's comfortable for you, assuming that it is efficient in...

Re: To Reel or not to Reel

That is a very good point. People sometimes get distracted by trying to get the fish to the reel, making sure no slack gets on the reel, or other things happen that can momentarily give enough slack...

Re: Recommendations for all purpose 9W or 10W

What are you targeting in the salt? Depending on the size of musky and pike, you could probably go down to even an 8 wt.

Re: Black Hills, of S. Dakota?

My wife and I fished last April with a guide out of Dakota Angler and made a pit stop at Pactola to see if anything was happening. It ended up being right after ice out and the rainbows were just...

Re: Flyfishing Idaho End of September

You should stop by any of the numerous local fly shops out there, they'll help you out on flies, hatches and recommendations.
  11. Re: Can a rod have tippet protection and "horsepower"

I bet I can afford much more than a late teens/early twenties kid living off a receptionist salary.
  12. Re: Can a rod have tippet protection and "horsepower"

I get it, you spent more than you can realistically afford on a fly rod, think it's the greatest thing in the world and feel obligated to try to go on the internet to try to put every other rod on...
  13. Re: Can a rod have tippet protection and "horsepower"

I was wondering how this escalated so quickly, but now seeing the facebook thing I get it.

I guess this is the way you have to get attention when you are a no name fly rod company trying to get in...

    Re: Drowning because of waders

Well, now imagine your waders being filled up, being dragged down a river, cracking your head on a few rocks and knocking yourself unconsious and then drowning. I assume that's generally how it goes...

    Re: Eradicating grass carp

Enjoy it while it lasts then! I'd argue that i'd rather sight fish to big grass carp over blind casting to catch a 5# LM any day.

Also, doesn't sound like its a pond you own. I wouldn't advise taking action yourself.

Re: A+++ for Orvis customer service warranty.

I don't have any experience with Orvis as I own all Sages, but when you break a rod with Sage, you send all the sections in, but they only replace the broken one. They take all the sections to make...

Re: A+++ for Orvis customer service warranty.

I personally wouldn't want a new rod sent to me when I break one section. I'd much rather prefer to just have the section rebuilt so I can keep the remnants of the old rod.

    Plus, I hate the feel...

    Re: Recommend a Rod

Those are three different areas that require different rods. I prefer to fish a 4 wt in the driftless, a 7/8 wt for GL steelhead, and depending on when and where you are fishing in MT, probably a 6...

Re: Sage igniter 590My thoughts so far...

I didn't test cast both rods. I'm primarily using mine as a streamer rod so I don't anticipate needing to make that many short casts. I ended up putting a titan long from SA on it for floating line,...
