    Re: Sunglasses/brands

I can't say that i've really used the cheaper brands, but I definitely feel like sunglasses are one of the top priority investments. I prefer Costas and mostly wear the low light ones unless I'm i'm...

Re: Sage igniter 590My thoughts so far...

I didn't test cast both rods. I'm primarily using mine as a streamer rod so I don't anticipate needing to make that many short casts. I ended up putting a titan long from SA on it for floating line,...

Re: Sage igniter 590My thoughts so far...

I've got a 691 that I used for the first time this spring on a reservoir chasing bull trout in OR. Granted I had an intermediate line on, I was surprised how easy it was to throw the entire line out...

    Re: A few general questions

Trout up to 25" in a small river? that sounds pretty awesome.

Local fly shop is definitely the way to go, as there's a lot of local specifics to the question you are asking that we don't know such...

    Re: Come on People

Definitely painful to watch. I'm guilty of beaching warm water species (primarily carp, but never all the way up on dry land), but always carry a net for cold water species.

Those are pretty cool. Don't really think of nets when thinking of DIY.

    Re: Saltwater fly line help!

Freshwater and saltwater lines are pretty much the same thing, just rinse after use in the salt. You should pick a line that is suited to the rod, and more specifically, for the flies you will throw....

    Re: Redfish line help

I would use a coldwater redfish line, although you probably won't have any issues with the warm water lines either since it'll primarily be sitting on the bow of the deck most of the time. Rio and SA...
  11. Re: I'm sure it's been asked but I'm pretty new here.

Honestly, I never clean my (freshwater) lines, although I probably should.

    Re: Beach fishing with Tenkara

Doesn't matter if the rod is designed for salmon or carp, that bonefish is going to blow up the tippet on the initial burst.

    Re: Beach fishing with Tenkara

I can't imagine how you'd be able to land a bonefish with a tenkara rod unless it was tiny, which Hawaii is definitely not known for.

Re: This Ain't Good At All

Less people traveling to Belize and less pressure on the fishery? If this isolated incident spooks off people from traveling there, its probably not that bad of a thing overall. (not trying to...

    Re: sage fly rod question

I'm not concerned about having a custom built fly rod, but I wouldn't want someone else's name on my rod.

Re: Sinking line question (longer line)

Yes entire line of T-11. You can make medium(50/60/70ft) casts when needed, but its mostly dumping line out and drifting. I use it to get down to wrecks or reefs to dredge up whatever species might...

Re: Sinking line question (longer line)

I have a "dredge" setup to fish real deep stuff (over 100 ft) that I use bulk spools of Rio Level-T T-11. Alternatively, if you want to just add extension you could cut a piece of that, weld some...

Re: Rare trout caught up north? video confirmation

I didn't watch the video. Its the point of posting a 10 minute video with literally half a second clip of what appears to be a rainbow with maybe a reddish marking and calling it a cutbow.

    Oh...
