Re: Warning label on my new Axiom II rod

If it has an anodized reel seat, that is likely the reason for the warning. There are lawyers in California who are sifting through items hanging on store walls to find ones that would violate prop...

Re: who makes the new Sage Trout reel?

Yes, it isn't an ultralight like a lot of our reels today. In the 4/5/6 size it's about an ounce heavier than Ross LTX and Nautilus X; and half ounce, or less, heavier than a Hatch +, Ross Evo R or...

Re: who makes the new Sage Trout reel?

What gives is a lack of market volume. Imagine if Ford made tires. How many GM/Ram owners would put them on their vehicles?

The high-end reel makers get every rod as their potential market and...

Re: who makes the new Sage Trout reel?

Nothing wrong with that. I considered a Nautilus X and Ross Evo LTX, but that Sage Trout has a nice blend of classic and modern looks that I can’t deny. I love the Sage Click I have on my X 486, so...

Re: who makes the new Sage Trout reel?

I haven’t heard about that. I’m not sure it makes sense for Far Bank to purchase Lamson, but I suppose it could happen.

I love the look of the new Trout reel. I think I’d like to have a stealth...

Re: Best casting 12 wt rod- get some of this

Dear lord, this thread should have come with a graphic content warning. Somebody find that man his shirt.

Is this the thread that got Carl banned? If it’s not, it should have been.
  8. Re: New Sage Rods - Starting to recycle a name...LL

*sigh* I'm involved in that stuff every week. Usually with folks who don't understand the market and are only looking to minimize their work responsibilities.
  9. Re: New Sage Rods - Starting to recycle a name...LL

My guess is that they have the internal capacities in both engineering and manufacturing to develop and produce fringe/niche rods that, although they will sell in small quantities, can supplement an...

    Outlaw,

Having overlap doesn’t have the potential to hurt anybody but Sage. If they manage inventory correctly, it’s a non-issue. I work in a very similar industry, and having that overlap gives...

For those who didn’t see the blog page. Note the two recommended lines. Sage is looking for you to fish this rod with long-headed, presentation oriented lines.

I’m going to get one of...
  12. Re: New Sage Rods - Starting to recycle a name...LL

Why would it be faster? Every Konnetic HD rod thus far has been slower than the rod it replaces, sans maybe Salt HD.
  13. Re: New Sage Rods - Starting to recycle a name...LL

Well... Gold is recommended as the “all-around” line, and new Technical Trout is recommended for “technical presentations.”

I take that to mean: “fish it with Gold if you’re going to fish this...

Another image of the new Trout LL.
  15. Re: New Sage Rods - Starting to recycle a name...LL

The Trout LL is a brand new rod made of the latest Konnetic HD material. The LL in the "Trout LL" name is simply a hearkening back to one of their all-time most popular models.

Re: Winston AIR Two-Hander at EFTTEX

Why do you view the Salt Air as a poor trout rod?
  17. Re: New Sage Rods - Starting to recycle a name...LL

It will be a tough choice on this LL. My X 486 sits in the top spot where the Trout LL would make sense. I don’t own a 9 foot 4 weight, so that could be a consideration, but in my mind I would want...

  21. Re: New Sage Rods - Starting to recycle a name...LL

It truly is a nice looking piece, with a nod to the past. Smart marketing move. It doesn't sound like a taper that fits in my wheelhouse, but I'll undoubtedly own one anyways...

Willing to hear reasonable offers. If no takers this week, it will be available on eBay. Hopefully goes to the good home of a forum member.

I recently tried some of the Stroft tippet and ended up ordering a few sizes of it. Very positive reviews of their nylon and fluoro tippets.

    Haven't tried Frog Hair.

    Have used some of Trout...

    Re: Recommendations 9'6 5wt

OP, there is a Sage One 9'6" #5 on Ebay right now that wouldn't suck. It might be had at a reasonable price.

I find myself wanting a Sage X 596 pretty bad. I feel like it would be the ultimate...
