  1. Re: Would you pay fee for access to private Blue Ribbon river?

This is a little different than the original question, in my mind, what you want to know is will people will pay for private access to public water and public fish on a well advertised stream. The...
  2. Re: Would you pay fee for access to private Blue Ribbon river?

    No.

But I am curious if in Mt. a person can hold exclusive title to the water in a stream? or if it just access control through land ownership?

Re: Help with recreating my lucky fly

I don't think it's possible to recreate the lost fly without a dry, fluffy picture. We can only speculate that it might have looked this way or that, I can't tell from the wet picture what the tail...

It's that ride back that is the determining factor, even two hours from home, I'll cut the day short to allow travel time or take a nap before the trip.

    Re: ***** Creek nymph--two questions

Generally insects look like insects and warm water fish eat just as many insects as trout, so in general any fly that catches trout will also catch panfish. Actually when I was growing up trout were...

Anything over two hours one way is an overnighter, but I'd rather stay one day for each hour driven. Size of fish isn't that important, setting and experience more so.

Re: Over and Under-lining your rod

I think the article said the same thing I've said for many years, it's not the line in the box or on the reel that counts, but the total line in the air as you cast that is applied to the rod.

  8. Re: Am I Just Compensating for Underlying Problems?

Doesn't maintaining the rod tip a straight line require moving the rod butt up through most of the stroke as the rod bends under loading at exactly the same rate as the bend shortens the rod? ...
  9. Re: Am I Just Compensating for Underlying Problems?

I don't think I have ever seen a rod tip travel in a straight line, I also think that if it did, the fly would hit the tiptop every time, I'm probably wrong though and just don't know what straight...

    Re: Bulk tying materials?

I bought bulk hooks (2-3000?) around 1978, I'm still using out of that lot. Of course some sizes I ran out of.
By number of trout flies that can be tied from one, any full genetic cape or saddle...

Re: Legs on Nymphs - Value?

No. Not necessary at all, Sawyer caught fish everywhere he went with his three or four basic legless patterns. Britain, Europe, USA, Scandinavia. Lakes and rivers.

    That said, I mostly agree...
  12. Re: Tying a dozen flies a day while under quarantine

You have the internet at your disposal, and lots of time; look for "buzzer fly patterns'' and "small chironomid fly patterns" as well as "midge patterns" - there about a zillion of them and I...

Re: Renzetti Traveler Vice Saltwater vs Regular

I don't travel anymore, but that used to be the primary reason to have a base for a vise, so few places a clamp can be used and it's so hard to fit the table from home in a duffle bag. A base can...

Re: What are you paying for gasoline in your area?

Was out a bit Tue. and the low was $1.35 cash price.
Not sure what's with that place because the 10 miles away Walmart was back up to $1.95 from #1.85.

From my perspective, a non spey long time roll caster, keeping the joint closed is a great idea, however you do it.
