I like that Driftwood Spey tie.

I'm tying up some Rangeley Streamer patterns right now for the Streamer Swap; first time in a very long time that I've worked with big hooks (#6, 8XL) and it's been fun.

Since these patterns were originally derived in the 1940's and 50's by people like Carrie Stevens; based on the Atlantic Salmon flies of those days, I've started to pay a lot more attention to Salmon flies in general. They look like they're fun to tie up.

Thanks for the tip on the Wapsi head cement, I just ordered a bottle.

The Driftwood flies are great looking... The first one kind of looks like a MI pattern I've seen; it's called the Bush Weasel.

Default New pattern added to thread Ironwood; Spey

Not an easy tie, I have whipped off a utility version that ties quick. Not so pretty but gets you away from the vise quickly.

The ironwood would make a nice grass shrimp imitation here for the striped bass

Ard: Happy Birthday!!!!! You can be proud, the Wood Series flies are fantastic! Getting that malard feather to lay straight with the hook on the Cottonwood must have been a chore.
