I know that the pattern has been around the horn with a few variations, but I used my copy of Noll's Guide for construction. I wasn't to clear about the underwing given in the material list so I used both the gold and red breast feather barbs for the fly. I think it's a cool fly.

Hook ...sproat, your choice of size
Tag...silver mylar tinsel
Tail..brown hackle
Body..black dubbed synthetic yarn ribbed with silver tinsel rib
Collar..brown cock hackle
Underwing..I used both the red and golden breast feathers from the ringneck pheasant
Wing..yellow dyed mallard flank. Hint...if you only want to tie a few, rub your mallard flank with a yellow magic marker and you are good to go.

The Noll's Guide, you don't hear that referenced much these days do you.......... You should be about ready to tie up some Western Doctors right about now. In Colorado the brook trout will grab them up as well as the Oriole. Anyone who complains about the Brookie hasn't fished the Doctor
