mklaser20, nice work! What's great about poppers is the variety of materials you can use, from deer hair, to foam and stuff from craft stores the combinations and patterns are endless!
So I am posting a second one all the ones I'm making seem to be able to spin the body's a little when finished. Does this mean that the string is to loose I'm using ultra 280 and I'm getting the top stack or the black dot on top straight it moves on the next stack. Any suggestions? I made a homemade packer out of a pair of catfish skinners. I'm assuming most of these are not tight enough?
The flies look good. They will still spin some when finished tying. One thing that will help is to lay a small 1/4" thread base on the hook before spinning or stacking the hair.Place the hair in the center of the thread base each time then pack both hair and thread,You don't have to put hair on a bare hook to be able to spin it.Use a couple drops of thin head cement after packing each clump of hair.Your thread has a 4lb breaking strength so don't be afraid to really tighten down on it.
