What kind of guy would I be if I only posted pictures of the ties that come out perfect? This is an example of what happens when you use heavy metal tinsel when you should use medium.

Notice the uneven body wrap;

Can you name this pattern?View attachment 1526

Come on, take a shot at it............ hint, the blue is a tad too light.

Prize will be a rep point to the first correct answer!

Can you show us a bigger picture

Is it a LAxa Blue

The trick to make a good shaped head of the fly is to trim the topping short close to the thread as possible and dont put more than 2 turn per topping and Use 8/0 if possible

click the pic it gets bigger. I see what you are talking about but to me thats still not a bad looking fly really in my opinion. I have made alot worse! :D all I really notice on your fly is the underside of the body is not perfectly smooth. I am not a salmon fly person myself so I can't name it

man thats not a bad looking fly at all, it may not be perfect, but i've bought flies that didnt look that good. Besides as long as balance is right and it isnt all jacked up looking it'll catch fish.

It's a smelt pattern & is close to the "American Beauty" I tie. The colors are close but I don't use a tail sooooo it's a Carrie Stevens "American"........

Time for a hint;

Originated for use on the Miramichi River in New Brunswick in the 1920's

Come on that should help..........

Here's the American beauty I tie It's a quick & easy tie, The blue is also too light on this one, it's close to yours but I see the differences now.. I tried metal tinsel on this one & that's where I messed it up, I used too wide of a tinsel, You can't change direction with it.

Nope to all guesses so far although it's good to get you looking at these.

Fishn50, I can see how you could mistake it. Very nice tie dude.
