    Tied full for swift currents;
    Attachment 1600Click for enlargement;
    Head: black
    Hook: Salmon #4
    Tail: red wool
    Body: black chenille
    Rib: med silver tinsel, optional
    Wing: black bear
    Cheek: J.C. eye long
    Belly: rust red bucktail

    One of the best streamer guys I know has been usig this one for trout here in the east for years (he's 83 now) look familar..

    Can't say that I have seen that fly. Probably like many of my own your friend has simply came up with a color combo and proportion that works for him. As you no doubt know the success that a fisherman may experience with a given pattern is usually related to the presentation of the fly.

    I will post tomorrow the only fly that I claim as my own design. I developed it over a five year period of time while fishing primarily on spring creeks in Pennsylvania. I do not possess an unused (chewed up) example of the fly but will procure one from the vise.

    P.S. I do see similarities between the ties.

    I used to tie a version of that fly, called a Skunk that had a white wing verus a black and didn't have the jungle cock. I found that fly to be excellent on the Kenai and along the Parks Hwy streams.
