  1. Default spinners

    I am tying up some spinners. I wanted to know if these wings on this fly were too long? Your thoughts are appriciated! Thank you!

    Nice job. Looks good to me. The wings on most spinners should stick out a bit over 1 hook shank length on each side (the straight part of the shank minus the eye).

    One way to get them about the right length is to pull them both back together on top of the shank at about a 45ish degree angle and cut where they reach a point in-line with the inside of the hook bend.

    On some spinners like Tricos, the naturals have slightly over size wings and very long tails (2x shank length), but for most spinners this seems to work pretty well.

    That looks about perfect to me T, I like the thorax build. Now you better make them in every conceivable color and you will be ready to fish anywhere.

    I do have a split microfibbets for a tail on there. You just can't see it real well in that pic.
