    Default The Moose Mane Crayfish

I tied these flies in 1981 or somewhere around then. I made a dozen of them in various color schemes and ended up giving most of them away but did loose two on the bottom also. You gotta admitt they look kinda real huh?

I still have a couple, you can find tying instructions for tying then by Googling Moose Mane Crayfish. Pretty cool, I found the pattern in Fly Fisherman Magazine in September 1981 I think.

    Hey Frank,

No argument there Frank, they look like they can crawl around the bottom. I have a few stories about using these over the years. The cool thing is that with a little dye and some vinegar you can make these whatever color you need them to be for your area. Crayfish vary in color. The claws are treated with lacquer because I didn't know about Feather Tough back then.

If you don't know what ('Feather Tough' *TM), is send me a PM and I'll return the address to you.
