    Hi Joni,
I loosened the brass drag nut on my BBS III reels, and can gegt a very light
drag setting for 4wt lines. I did the same for the BBS IV's, but they still
seem a bit stiff when stripping line out. Enter the Ross Evolution !

I've got a 7' 3/4wt. My Ross Colorado 2 (4wt) is a bit heavy with it, my Cimarron 1 (3wt) balances nicely. If shopping now, I'd look for a Ross Rythym 1. They're nice and cheap right now.

Joni, aren't you a Vosseler fan? Wouldn't one of their smaller click reels be a good match?

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

as for the lamson velocity deals, (and im not 100% sure when they corrected the problem) they used to have a problem with rusting and siezing up. so if your thinking about the older model, at least call lamson and find out when they fixed it. it may have been a few years back, but i recently bought a lamson force reel and i researched for a while and found that problem in early models. all i know is the brand new ones are fixed.

Ross Rhythm 1. These reels have great drags and are very nicely made. My son's 8' 4 wt balances very well with one. A Rhythm 0 might balance better on a 7' rod but, may not hold enough backing with 4 wt line. These reels can be had for very good prices...........until they're all gone.

The ross CLA isnt a bad choice either,

i think they run about 150.

How big are the fish going to be running in the small creeks your fishing??, cause there may not be a need for a reel with a lot of drag.....

I decided to buy a Ross Cimarron 1 that I found on closeout for $90 at After Christmas Sale. There seem to be some very good deals there. The person I spoke with over the phone told me this sale was through the end of February with no tax or shipping charges on orders over $50 (if anyone is interested). The fish in these streams won't be overly large (I am thinking along the same lines as browntrout). Also, I'm kind of partial to the classic look of standard arbor reels on my lower line weight fly rods. Thanks for everyone's suggestions!
