Poor quality materials and tools are destined to discourage beginner tiers and cause greater expense when the time comes to replace them.

    "rabbit strip bait fish"

i ended up trimming the hair length on the lighter top strip to about half the length it is currently so as to give the profile better proportions in color and movement. hourglass eye weights so it rides hook up, weight sits around the front 1/3 so it will have a little bit of a "diver" motion but not like if you made it a cone head or put the weight all the way at the eye. couple of rubber legs and flash tied in right behind the eyes and trimmed to just shorter than the length of the tail. i tied up about 4 color combinations. most of the baitfish patterns that are working right now are black/brown/tan. white seems to be a turn off.

Tied 5 of these tonight. Took me a while but they look decent. First time tying anything smaller than a size 12.

Tied a few more tonight. My dubbing skills seem to be getting a little better.

Tied some more. The prince nymph has been probably my favorite nymph to fish but has been my least favorite to tie. I have a ton of problems tying them. Hopefully they will get better with time and practice. I also dropped and tied my first size 18s. Props to those who tie that small and smaller. Its very difficult and tedious.

Flytire the Molasses Hill looks like a good one for the old fly box.
