I was watching the fly fishing masters with Joe Humprey fishing. He lost out I think but I was impressed with the fly box he was using.. seemed that He could open and close it with ease and it was handy..I did a little searching and found that it was the Richardson Chest Fly box at www.chestflybox.com/main.html

Have any of you seen or used one of these chest boxes..It dates back about 50 years and seems quite unique..They are custom set up to your preference on number of pannels and size and type of each storage area..

Hey Mike,
Yes, I've had that site bookmarked. Funny thing is I watch Joe's Flyfishing Smallstreams video Sat. at the Orvis in The Woodlands, TX. It showed him using his chestbox. It was a good video where he demostrated the Bow and Arrow cast.

I also have this link as well as another that I think is on my home pc that I can post later:

Here it is:

I have owned a chest fly box -- mine is engraved "The Rex K. Richardson Chest Fly Box, Osceola, PA 16666." I must have had it for over 25 years. Several years ago I sent it to the boys who now own the rights and they refurbished it -- not that it needed anything. These things are bulletproof. Bought one on eBay for a friend and refurbished it myself. For get the price they are worth it.

Many years ago I was guiding an angler for atlantic salmon. I admired his flybox which was on his chestand and was different. It has no markings and is built out of aluminum. He said it was a prototype and he was leaving it with me. I have used it since and it is as good as the day it was made. It came on the market as a Richardson Fly Box. It has certainly stood the test of time.

Location
Bedford County, Penna. ....pretty rural
I use a Richardson Fly Box. It's the Joe Humphreys Series. I had it built in June of 2005 by the Richardson Chest Fly Box co. out of Bellefonte, PA. I had mine built with 3 fly drawers plus the tippet dispenser drawer with a floatant bracket attached. It cost @ $250 but should last forever...unlike a lot of other equipment I've bought.

I've seen them for sale at Flyfishers Paradise in State College, PA.

Truthfully, I seldom use the tippet dispenser and now use that space to hold streamers. But, it was a great purchase and should last me throughout my flyfishing days!
