Thanks for the welcome. As for where I like to fish anywhere there's water. Will put my boat wherever I can get it in at. Usually fish about 10 to 15 lakes in northern Indiana. Ranging in size from about 100 acres to almost 2000 acres. Primary fishing has been spinning and baitcaster. Just bought my first fly rod over the weekend. Fiqured what better place to get informed.

Glad you picked us to help you get started!

I'll venture a guess that you have more sunfish in those lakes than anything else. Its pretty safe to say that most any trout fly (that looks like a bug) will catch sunfish. The ones that float do, the ones that sink do too.

Once you've got casting down, sunfish are a very good way to learn how to feel strikes, set the hook, etc.

sunfish and lakes

Yes a couple of the lakes do. Several however are noted for walleye and crappie, yet another is noted for big bass. Pulled in about a 4 1/2 lb lg bass last year on a ultra-light with 2# line. While fishing for bluegills and crappie. Most are bluegill lakes though.
