    Default worth the broken tip

Although I have been a long time reader, this is my first post on this board. However, this trip I went on a couple of weeks ago, I feel is worthy of a post.

Decided to go fish a small wild stream (year around) a couple of weeks ago. Don't know what I was thinking. It was freeeeezing...

Did some hiking and then some fishing. It was very slow and the takes were from deep down and very subtle. Here was the first catch of the day...

Then to my dismay, I broke my tip to my bamboo rod...

But I broke it catching this big fella!!

Now just to add, here in Georgia our small wild streams normally produce wild fish in the 6" - 10" range, with a trophy being around 12" - 14". This is a pure wild north georgia stream bread 18" (17 and a half to be exact but I believe in rounding up ) rainbow trout. I don't know if i'll catch a small stream wild rainbow like that again anytime soon. If this were caught in a tailwater, no big deal, but I have been fishing this stream regularly for a couple of years and this is indeed a catch of a lifetime for this place.

    Congrats! Definitely worth it.

I'm new to the forum myself, but just the same.

Sorry to hear about your rod, but those are some nice wild rainbows, especally the 18 incher. As many people know, I only fish for wild trout and I am very envious.
