I owned a nice pond when I lived in SC. The bream loved woolly buggers and for popping bug, a chartreuse Sneaky Pete.

Small Betts type poppers, green weenies and just about any nymph patterns will get takes. Good luck and have fun with it.

One thing to remember: if you are using popping bugs, use larger than you would think bugs if you are going to be releasing the little guys. Bream will flat inhale small poppers, and you will be killing them trying to get the bug out. Larger is better, and their eyes are bigger than their stomachs, so they'll go for the big bugs, and won't be swallowing them. Go barbless, too.

Small foam hoppers are a winner as well.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

GT is on the money, I catch panfish on poppers I tie on a size for hook with a small piece of 5/16" foam cylinder. Same popper I use for small bass and it works perfect. You don't have to worry about getting the smallest of the panfish and the ones you get are usually easy to remove the larger hook. Have fun!
