January 4th - Appalachian Brookies

January 10th - Piedmont Largemouths

January 14th - Down East Reds

From mountains to coast, it's a great place to be a fisherman. Year round.

There's also the food, beauty of the country and the people...Maybe not just NC, but that part of the country always makes me happy when I visit. Some of the cities are off the hook (Savannah, Charleston, etc) and the Parkway is awesome.

I have to chuckle at this; that's generally how we console ourselves over the harsh winters up here, "well at least we don't get the hurricanes they get down south" :D

What's not to like, you are lucky to have so many species to fish for.
I'd love to catch a Bass on a fly.

Which are the successful flies that you use fer the bass?
That question has lots of answers depending on waterway, time of year, weather, etc. This month, January, low and slow is the ticket as the bass are deep and sluggish. Crayfish or hellgrammite patterns work best for me. Perhaps my favorite fly this time of year is a black Murray's Marauder, size 8ish.

Good luck.
