Hello,

I'm new to the Spey casting and need to know what kind of tips I should get...

My set up and use..

11 foot 6wt TFO Deer Creek switch rod
Ross 7-8 reel
20# airflo poly running line
375 grain Iflight Skagit line (Rio)
360 grain airflo rage compact

Which sink tips would you suggest for each head?

The rod will be used for larger redband rainbows in the Spokane River ( mostly midsized buggers and nymph rigs)

Bass and pike on lakes and the occasional steelhead trip.

Thanks for the help,

I posted a video in the Spey Casting & Technique threads, it gives a very clear look at what I use and how I rig my sinking leaders.

I use longer heads than you but that doesn't mean the system won't work for you.

The idea behind my system is to sink the leader & fly while leaving your floating line floating on the surface. I found that a typical sink tip such as T-11 fixed directly to the end of a floating head tends to pull the floating line under with it. This makes sweeping the line and re-casting difficult.

This is the video > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnNGdB-F8qM&feature=youtu.be

There are also 2 threads at the top of the Techniques forum that explain the how it works of the leader and one about control of the swing.
