ive never fished there before so i couldnt tell you why they use two handed rods but it seems like the guides i have spoken with like fishing with the shorter two handed rods. the river from what i could tell looks like its plenty fishable with a single hand rod. regardless, pumped to give it a shot.

A lot has to do with the ease of the casting ability of a double hand rod. It is a lot less work. You don't have to worry about what is behind you. Depending on what line you are using a 12' switch will roll 30-50 ft easily, a light forward underhand flick can get you much more.

That makes sense. I just started two hand casting using a 3wt trout Spey and I do have to say it is absolutely awesome. Pretty much no fatigue or strain with tons of distance.
