The lakes around ~6000 feet are fishing well and it's about to get better. The post-ice-out game of leeches and chironomids is about to open up to include Callibaetis, damsels, etc. as water temps creep into the 50's.

Work is overrated boys. Time is now to get out to your local stillwater...

Scuds, leeches, and buggers have been delivering at first light... 8-11 has seen excellent action on chironomids. Balanced Leech was taking rainbows steadily after lunch.

Tight lines!

Great report and photos, thanks for sharing!

I went to Jackson yesterday to have an orthopedic specialist look at my left knee that has been bothering me. He gave me a cortisone shot and now it feels great, but says I may need to come back before my hike up Slough Creek in Sept. Going for a walk today to see how it holds up. Tomorrow I'm going fishing! Yahoo!!!

Nice fatties Joe, I have been foregoing the still water this spring as I have been moving around a bit with Work.

Where has your daughter landed? Jake is in Seattle running a fly shop. Not exactly what I was hoping for but what could I have expected. He’s doing great and will hopefully move into the sciences when his better half finishes at Bastyr.

Glad you’re getting into some great fish, it’s been a while since I have fished UT high country.

Best,

Cody

Taylor just started with Colorado Parks & Wildlife (in Denver) about a month ago. She loves it of course. I'm insanely jealous. :D

Hopefully you're getting the family discount at the fly shop?

Man, the Uintas are calling! Another month or so and I'll be trekking in to get my Father's Day grayling fix. The lakes I'm fishing now will start to warm up by mid-June... so I'll break away from them until cooler temps return in the fall. Last 2 weeks has been the best fishing I've had since arriving in Utah almost 8 years ago.
