NYC in Autumn and spend the weekend in the Hamptons fishing the migration of bass and albies. Doesn't get more cosmopolitan than this.

Portland Oregon is well known for dining and microbrews. Take a guided float trip on a local winter steelhead stream. Take an hour drive to the scenic Oregon coast or Timberline lodge at the base of Mt. Hood.

    However:

We want you to visit our State of Excitement often. Come again and again. But for heaven's sake, don't move here to live. Or if you do have to move in to live, don't tell any of your neighbors where you are going.

If you're feeling playful and your wife has a sense of humor, you could suggest Branson, MO. You fish Taneycomo while she attends the Dixie Stampede:

"Dolly Parton’s “Dixie Stampede” is the perfect family destination in Branson for exciting entertainment and a fantastic four-course feast! “Dixie” has taken the entire experience to new levels with a state-of-the-art 150-foot LED video wall that will simply blow you away! Experience the Stampede of the Buffalo, hilarious racing pigs, fan favorite competitions, and a Grand Patriotic Finale of red, white and blue set to Dolly’s own, Color Me America."

Yes, a couple of years ago Italian guide Alberto Salvini came to speak at our club, and coincidentally it was the first time my wife was interested in fishing.

    Should I be worried?

There's not a day that goes by that I don't wonder how dreary this world would be if elk were bald and birds had no feathers.

Though I can't speak for your situation only my own, I'd only be concerned if he practiced catch and release.

His girlfriend / business partner Marica Cicoria is likewise easy on the eyes:
