    pretty much agree with the above except i haul on the line on the forward part to shoot a little extra line. A shorter leader will also be a big help it'll make it much easier to turn the fly over.

    I agree with Doug's description as well. I recommend those who want to roll cast further and/or more efficiently learn how to perform the single and double spey cast with their single handed rod. This should allow you to cast further and change direction much easier as well.

    Another trick is to grab the butt of the rod below the reel with your other hand to add a little more snap to your power stroke. This should only be done after you have the gotten the loop tight and above the water.
