One of my favorite Marching Band pieces Fred.

I had the pleasure of seeing The Royal Highlanders at Penn State in 2002. The performance was topped of by a Highland Dance involving broad swords. It was just one of those things I'm glad I got to see, I don't expect to see them preform in Scotland but I got to experience something I haven't forgotten.

Anywhere can be the land of great expectations, broken dreams, or paradise found, it's all up to you.

My kid used to flash dance with his school group. It is an off beat happening. But lots of fun.

In the early '80's I took my kids to the Denver Coliseum for a marching band concert. The Coliseum was an indoor venue and the crowd only filled half the seats. Several bands played and then the British Royal Marine Corps band took the ground floor. The band played the medley of British marching songs and then broke out into the USMC Marine Corps Hymn.

Every "jarhead" in the seats attending the event snapped to attention at their seats with a salute !.......and remained at attention for the entirety of the song without so much of a twitch of movement.

Gave me goosebumps. Semper Fi is not an idle slogan.

Hear you CT. Can't remember the years save for in the early 60's and Seattle had a 'Worlds Fair.' Evening, and the Brit's did a 'Tatoo, think that's how you spell it. Marching bands and Pipes.

One lone Piper started the thing in the middle of the High School foot ball stadium. First day just a few of 'us,' next day, till the end a couple of weeks later, the place was 'standing room only.'

Parents with children were escorted down on the field. I piper, a drummer, with a child next on the field. Some hoisted on to the back of the horses. A 250 pound Drill Sargent with a 5 year old in his lap was a show stopper. His head on her's, horse knew where to go.

Once every thing just stopped with the child. Horse/rider in the middle of the field with a cuddle. No sound from 10,000+ people. Fellow was home with his own children; every one knew.

    Respect.

    Brian.
Rose Bowl stadium in Southern California holds 92,000 some before 'Standing room only.' My bet is they would fill that, and more.

And thank you for the reminder, have an old VCR tape of a Tattoo at Edinburough Castle. Must find or at least Google.
