My grandfather called bluegills "johnny roach" and brown bullhead "pout"
and around here crappie are known as calico bass

Up north tourists (from a certain state) that were once called "them dam summer people" are now simply known as Mass-holes

My favorite is the term used to describe the best thing about Connecticut. It's called "Rhode Island".

Racine, love the genre shift on the acronyms Well played!

One which I may have posted before (or someone else may have posted) is one which is applicable on spring creeks and non-winter waters everywhere:

Salad/rabbit food - any sort of aquatic vegetation that either fouls your line, snags you up, or even causes you to lose a fish when he or she goes diving into the rabbit-food

Salad-eater - those fish, often in your friends' photos, that have yet to have the aforementioned vegetation cleared off the lines or from the fish's face and that make the fish look like it took a big vegetarian streamer.

The Russian - I'm On I'm Off (say it fast). We use this a lot when Striper fishing.

We have others, but they are not printable on this forum. They usually describe the way a fish takes the fly when they eat it.

Oh wait, Take - How a fish eats a fly

Flogging: Folks who never fish out a cast but keep picking up and re-casting, trying to get it just right.

Pounding Them Up: Trying to create surface action with repeated casting over the same run or lie; usually doesn't work.

Breakup: This is your first chance to get a boat on a river here in Alaska.

Anywhere can be the land of great expectations, broken dreams, or paradise found, it's all up to you.
