glad to see i'm not the only one that thought it was a good price.

the total combo comes with the following: 9' 3pc 8wt rod, sth slt reel, cortland 444 wf line, micron backing, and case. will have to put up a post later on once i get it and get to try it out.(xmas present from wife.)

Diamondback/Cortland makes some fine rods. One of my personal favorite rods is the Diamondglass series. I am sure you will love the new setup.

I could beat that price. All you have to do is ask.

will have to remember that next time then. fiqured that price would be rather hard to beat. my bad. will know better next time. also fiqured that i'd rather see a big time shop loose money than a smaller shop.(cabelas can afford to loose the money off of full price)

just got the new combo in today. my question lies in the line. it came preloaded with cortland 444sl wf8f saltwater. will the weather that i'll experience here in the north affect the saltwater line in any way? if so should i change it to some other line and if so what would be recommended?

Well… if you call and ask Cabela’s… no one will know what the heck you’re talking about.

Seriously though… the Cortland 444SL Saltwater should work well for you in the cooler conditions. These particular lines are actually designed for cooler water. The Cortland Tropic Plus lines however, are designed for warm water and warm weather. You should never use a Tropic Plus line in the cold because they'll stiffen up on you way too much.

You’ll be fine with the line that your outfit came with… enjoy.

    Steve
