Winchester VA

So a couple friends and I are planning a short 1 night trip in the Winchester area for the end of July. None of us are too familiar with the area around Winchester so I came here to inquire. Looking to camp, preferably at a primitive area near fishable water. That time of year we would probably go for bass since it will be pretty hot, but if there is a reasonable spot not too far from town that would offer trout options we would consider that as well.

So what do you guys got? Not looking for hidden honey holes, just a spot to hang a hammock and have a few beers for the night.

Shendandoah National Park is your best bet. The Shenandoah river runs close to there. Primitive camping may be a challenge in that area.
