Default Will carp hit egg imitations?

On another board, a couple of very different posts on eggs for trout and another on carp fishing got me speculating.

Will carp hit egg imitations? I read somewhere that they will eat panfish eggs, but I was wondering if they would hit something that looks like a salmon egg with any consistency? If so, is there a color that's preferable?

Carp eat everything that trout eat and more. Your best bet is to use what they are feeding on. There should be no reason why they wouldn't take an egg fly. Try to match the egg color of the spawning fish in the area you are fishing. For carp I think a little fish attractor on the egg would help them locate the fly. If they think it is food they will take. Here is a link about Carp fishing by Dave Whitlock.

I have found the best for carp is dog biscuit imitations. Chum the area with this then site cast.
