Thread: A new twist

    Default A new twist

I've been taking a break from the muddy water and pursuing other species to keep me on my toes. Seeing how I'm the kind of guy to go after species that are obscure in the fly fishing world, I've been targeting Saugeye. Where I catch them, they're relatively small still, but they offer great fun on a 6wt. I ended up having a BIG one break my rod tip. (Partially my fault.) I mistook it for a big bass and tried to lip it. Things did not go well from there. (It's hard to tell sometimes when it's dark and you already have terrible vision haha.) Nevertheless, here's some blurry nighttime pictures from my cell phone.

Thumbs up Re: A new twist

Cool! Like Walleye with the glow eyes! Lopping them can put. A dent in your thumb though! Always cool catching something different! Good job!

Jhammer what are you using for those saugers? My son is going to WVU so went down last week and fished the Monhangelua. Caught one tiny one and some bass . Was told the dom is loaded with big saugers. I would think they would like clousers like walleye but am open to any input. Thanks and I need my muddy water fix!

Here's a picture that's a little bit better than the other ones. They sure are a lot of fun on a 6wt!

I ended up hitting the reservoir again this morning and I managed to pull out quite a few more Saugeye with the fly rod.
