Crappie fishing

Where are the crappie this year??? Last year I was catching 20-25 a day shallow in the river channel at Caddo near Johnsons Ranch using pistol petes and wooly buggers. But this year I haven't caught even one there . I've even tried fishing deep with a full-sinking line, but no luck. What gives???

Cliff,
Look when the full moon was last year and where it will occur this month. Bass and Crappie start thinking about spawning and moving up shallow after the first full moon in January.

Well duh...it is your picture on the bottom of your boat Cliff..what'd you expect them to do...jump in the ice box next to you! :wink: Btw...do crappie hold different than gillies..ie: will you find crappie where you find gillies? Do crappie go deeper than gillies?

Cliff, Been looking for your report on Caddo today. Paper said yesterday some crappie were being caught in 5-6 feet of water down from Johnson's.
