I think I have to agree with most people here. I have a 7wt 10' Clearwater and I love the rod. For Bass fishing (Stripers included) it throws everything but my HUGE topwater flies (Have my 10 wt for that) and it will throw anything that I'll attempt for large trout. If I ever get around to steelhead or pike I reckon it'll work just fine too.

    Nick,

It all really comes down to this:

"Who can say where your road goes,
when the days close, only time"
    "who knows, only time"

"And who can say how long I'll fish for bluegills,
    rather than carp, only time"
    "who knows, only time"

"And who can say if my love grows,
for Helios fly rods, only time"

No love for 7 weights? After checking, I find I have more than 20 rods that are rated for a 7. As one can guess, it's my go-to rod for most of my fishing. I usually fish buggers and other streamers for panfish and bass, which is right in a 7 weights power alley. It will also cast all but the largest bass bugs. And it has the weight to cast effectively into the wind.

Ive owned a 7 wt and I liked it. I think people tend to have only odd or even wt fly rods in their quiver because there is a bigger difference between a 5wt and a 7wt than a 6wt and a 7wt. Im probably not making much sense though..

    I fit that catagory.... 3, 5, 7 and thinking about a 9 or a 1 or 9 footer on the 3 or 10's on the 5 and 7.
I'm currently out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message, and if you would like to reach me by phone, please hang up now.

20+ rods of a single weight? Do you actually use them all or do you keep them just because?

A 7wt rod is my go to rod when fishing PA & OH's steelhead alley!

I had a 7wt and loved it, but then I also have an 8wt. So after a long hard painful decision making over the functionality, I let the 7wt go. However with a
à bientôt instead of with an Adieu.
