Thread: 1st outing with new rod

Default 1st outing with a new rod

I finally got a chance to go to the river for the first time this season and try out my new biii-sx. I put on a boogle amnesia bug and started fishing. I caught a small rock bass on the first cast. I also caught a small bluegill. Then, about 20 minutes later, this fat smallmouth (pretty big for this river) decided to take my popper. I fought it for a while and finally managed to land it. So glad spring is finally here!

    Congratulations Carson!

I had no idea you were a young fellow until I saw your picture. it's always a great thing to see the next generation of fly fishers coming along. I'll be watching for your posts now.

Very nice smallie, really helps set the temper on a new rod when you catch a nice fish on the first outing...

I was going fly fishing until my wife suggested it, now I can't tell who is outsmarting who!

Being "one with nature" requires a knowledge of what animals are living nearby and a weapon of sufficient magnitude to give you at minimum an equal chance of survival. No one has an invisible aura that animals can detect and sense your good intentions.

    Hi troutchaser 8.
We don't have Small mouth Bass over here just Native ones.
I bet that one tested your new Rod out as it looks like it had a bit of grunt to it.
