Default My new favorite warmwater fly

I saw the link below and instantly fell in love with this fly (meant to simulate a damselfly nymph). I found it in my search for new carp flies to use at my local reservoir, but it is effective on other warmwater species as well. I was really proud of how well they came out, so I wanted to share. The link includes a walk-through in case anyone else wanted to give one a shot.

Pretty fly - I imagine when stripped the legs and marabou(?) fold back and adopt the general shape of a baitfish, but when left to drop it looks more damsel-like.

Cool pattern --

Good looking fly! I could see it being productive for coldwater applications too!

I already hooked one carp on this fly. Sadly, it broke off shortly after.

That is a great looking pattern. I may tweek it a bit based on my available materials and hooks but I am definitely going to give it a shot on my local carp beat. The concepts behind the design of this fly all make total sense when targeting carp. Thanks for sharing.

Can you tie it on a Trokar hook? I think Trokar hook is the sharpest hook.

nick k,

Thanks for sharing this pattern. I nailed two carp on it last Saturday morning. It now has earned a dedicated spot in my carp fly box.
