  1. Default First Bass of the Year

A few friends and I took the kayaks out, yesterday, hoping to enjoy Spring's arrival and maybe stumble upon a few fish, too. Windy conditions and hundreds of cypress trees don't mix, but I did manage to luck up one nice bass. The streamer (2/0 B10S hook, craft fur, grizzly hackle, lots of flashabou, and Chocklett's Body Wrap for the head):

Very nice pics. I'll have to try that fly pattern.

Great looking tie... I cannot get over the size of that Alligator. Not sure what gets the hair standing up more, Fishing among alligators or dealing with bears….? I only have experience with bears. Both Black and Griz. I think you go with what you know, I’ll stick with the bears. Thanks for posting.

Ross, congrats on the nice bass!

That streamer looks like it would be a good choice most any where!

From your pic, the tidal rivers & creeks I fish here in MD look very much like that, dark tannic stained water that reaches well up into the shore line trees. Loads of places that a bass could be lurking!

Except of course, minus the gator's!
Remember, no one likes to be behind the big truck, but that's better than being under it!

I know where that is. Gators ain't the problem. Biggest problem is one of the locals who fishes it all the time. He carries a photo album of big fish he has caught and if he ever starts talking to you, you cannot get away. He followed a buddy of mine all over that lake just telling one story after another.

Haven't encountered him, yet, Boyscout. Nor have I encountered these big fish he's caught....Two fish out of Goodale, so far. This bass and a small pickerel. Hoping to figure the place out, though. Its a beautiful little lake.
