    If you can find them over a sandy bottom, it seems to draw their interest if the fly stirs up a bit of sand. Might be the same for silt, if the fly won't get mucked up.

    How cool! I would never think to fish the LA river. I think homeless encampments when you say LA river. Obviously I'm wrong. How do you fish that fly? Do you strip it?

    I fish my carp flies very slowly(stripping only an inch or two at a time). If I strip faster, I'm more likely to catch a largemouth bass, which is also okay. It's important to pay close attention to the line as a carp bite can be very soft and easy to miss.
