There are a lot of good suggestions on here. I do have to say that I think sunfish/bluegill are one of the least picky fish that swims. If you make a few casts and vary speed and depth and don't have any hits, a bit I would just move on to another area of the pond/lake. If they are around it wont be long until you have non-stop action. Specially on a warm sunny day.
