I hit the Ďlikeí because there isnít a Ďlove this postí option. I got a few last week but the rain and 40* weather moved in again. My lawn needs cutting but it can wait. Possibly tomorrow it will be a good day to get out. Nothiní better than a pile of fresh crappie with slaw, and hushpuppies. Throw in a lemon and home made tartar sauce?? HELL yeah! I think Iím going to toss the 3 wt in the truck in a few minutes and be ready to go in the AM.

Not to give up. Have truck, will travel. It's that time of year again for me. The struggle between trying to decide whether to chase crappie or turkeys. I'm going to head out in a few minutes and see if I can't wax a turkey this afternoon and hit the water again tomorrow for the sac-a-lait. The turkeys are 5 minutes from the house. The fish (big crappie) are a 2 hour drive. River conditions are perfect right now and the big fish have moved in to the shallows. Easy picking but the big ones won't be there much longer. Tied up some small (#12 & #10) flashy wooly boogers going to try tomorrow.

I make this flyrod version of the basic crappie jig. Thatís a small glass craft bead on a #6 or 8. This oneís a bit chewed and most of the marabou tail is gone.

Nice catch Kev! Same here, I fought this fish for a solid 15 minutes in heavy current, it surviving if I released her were slim at best. I decided to keep her for the Weber. It's been a while since we've had Steelhead. Oddly enough the hen was already spawned out.

Yes. 30 per person per day. 9" minimum size limit also for most public waters. Some public state lakes have a 10" or 12" minimum size limit. Had 30 fish that day but two of them were bluegill. Went yesterday and brought home 26 more. River conditions haven't been this perfect in a couple years. Last year and the year before was high water during the spring pre-spawn. Thinking of maybe going one more time before they move back out to deeper water. As far as table fare they are by far my favorite.
