Default Fishing in May

I can't wait till the gills go to beds in May. Put on a gill buster with a popper on top and have the time of your life. Keep a few for a tasty meal and release the rest. Have a little hole behind a local lake that is a hot spot for the little buggers and occasionally a crappie for a bonus. Ain't nothin better.

Sure don't have to wait til then bud, that set-up will catch tons of bluegills most anytime.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

Default Re: Fishing in May( Feb-may)

Three good warm days in row and I am fixing to pound the sand bass with my clouser and my 8 weight. Once I get started on good warm water fish some times I just fish for trout during the week to fellowship with Texans..

I caught a few a couple of weeks ago but they are not very aggressive right now. The water is still pretty cold here. But in May when they go to bedding they get real agressive protecting the beds. Last year in my pond, you could sneak up in the shallow gravel bottom and see them on the bed. They wouldn't let even a minnow get close. I would put on a barbless hook and have some fun. Let them go in the end and catch them again later.
