Default fishing in the nort' woods

i was up at my families lake house this last weekend and found the crappie beds one day, and the bluegill beds the next day! ran into some bass along the way too. caught most of the fish on bead head buggers and foam spiders. two monster bluegills hit a gurgler frog though, and those two fish were really fun to catch.

rmooney: Nice photos, and great work with the fish. As soon as run off slows down I'm going to have to put my fly swap spider pattern to work!

I had a big bluegill hit a real Gartside Gurgler, striper-size one day. Judge the fish by its heart, not its size.

yeah, bluegill are one of my favorite fish to catch! the big ones put up an awesome fight. i always do the best panfish wise when i have a tandem set up with a bead head bugger and a foam spider. or a gurgler and a foam spider. ive found that a foam spider is my most dependable panfish fly. its also a lot of fun to watch them slam it on the surface!
