Headed to Dutch John for 1 day in late Apr. I see several guide services, any in particular recommended?

We are somewhat experienced fly fishermen (partner is good, I'm average at best). We have drifted a number of waters before, but not the Green below Flaming Gorge.

Edit: Green, not Breen

Probably too much of simplification but here goes.......Spinnerfall are dry fly specialists and I have liked all my trips with them, Colby is fun to fish with. Old Moe guide service specializes in nymphing and will put fish in the boat if that’s your thing. Brock is an amazing guide there and They will also throw streamers and dries. Trout Creek Flies is the shop I use most of the time and a couple of guides that I like are Nick, Brandon and if you can get him Dave McDonald is the best guide on the river in my opinion. YMMV
There are of course others but those are the ones I have experience with
As a wild card i really like Cori from Western Rivers, she is 110% optimism and is a hoot to hang out with, she will give you your moneys worth

Ironically, my bud and I were Cori's very first clients - and she was outstanding! One of the best guides I have ever floated with.

I have fished with Brock as well, also outstanding (for a hippie :D)

Spinner Fall - Colby, fished with him too, excellent and something of a legend on the river. He will berate you for poor casting... he has high expectations, but his knowledge is well-established. I'll be fishing with him the middle of June - highly recommended.

Tried to get Cori today for an upcoming float with McNerney and she doesn’t start her season till May 1st and we were asking for April 30th, so close:eek:
I agree with the rest of your comments:yo:

Not sure who told you that, I was THERE on Friday and guess who was right next to us at the oars down at the put-in at the dam? Cori! She even remembered me... you know, another super-guide is Darrin (or Darrel?) with Western Rivers, he can get novices to catch fish when pros in other boats are struggling, seen it TWICE, he really knows his stuff.

I was told by the owner:confused: Hopefully he just made a mistake, I'm sure there is an easy explanation. Either way I hooked up with a guide from Trout Creek that is awesome and I am sure Larry and I will have a good day chasing BWO's

Cvd: You are in for a real treat, the scenery on the A Section is just incredible. they call it "The Aquarium" due to the clarity of the water and those red canyon walls are spectacular! The fishing isn't too shabby either. LOL!
Kevin and I are doing a guided float together on April 30, but I plan on going down a few days earlier and wade fishing, this time of year it is primarily midges and boo's, but if the weather conditions are right the bwo hatch is amazing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Yes, Darren Bowcutt, stellar guide. With that last name, how could you not be?

I was under the impression that Cori was a college professor back east, maybe just doing a trip for some friends?

I typically float tube the green when I am there, gives tremendous access and is a kick in the shorts in that awesome canyon.

The BWO's can be so think that they choke you. No joke I have floated through hatches so dense you have to wear eye protection and a face shield for breathing. My favorite time of the year on that stretch of the Green.

Well, we did our trip last week and had a great time. Brandon from Trout Creek Flies guided us; I’d gladly do it again with him. He knew his stuff, worked hard, coached us, and put us on fish. We had a very sunny day, no BWO hatch, so we nymphed the entire day. Caught a dozen fish each, rainbows and Browns, 14” – 19”.

Thanks to all for advice on preparing for the day.
