Took a quick pre-mother's day trip to fish the Weber River this past Friday and Saturday. A cold front started to blow through Friday afternoon and was there full force all day Saturday making fishing pretty tough but we managed a few nice fish and had a great time.

First fish of the day was a really nice brown. I caught one that was too big for my small net and it managed to flip out before I could get my camera out of my pocket.

Here's a representative rainbow.

I'm not sure if this bird is a Heron or Crane - I'm guessing it's a type of crane. There was a breading pair and when I approached a cattail patch they started to almost bark at me. It was clear they didn't want me near so I snapped a few pictures and moved on.

The nice clear day Friday Morning.

How foul it was Friday afternoon and All day Saturday.

Here's a short video of the first brown I caught.

I was great to be out. Already looking forward to the next trip.

Nice reporting there and beauty fish. The bird is a sandhill crane. They winter down here in the fields. Haunting call they have too.

Yes, I agree with Joey, that is a Sand Hill Crane, I love the sound they make.
Looks like you guys had an awesome trip despite the weather, congrats!

Beautiful pictures, fish, and trip. I like fishing in the rain!

I grew up in Western Washington. There if you didn't fish in the rain, then you didn't fish!
